Kelleys Island
Several months ago I read something somewhere that made me book tickets to Ohio. I am not sure now if it was a book I was reading or a chain letter email, or what. But it basically said something like "Get to know your parents." I don't think I have been too nice or have made much of an effort to really know my Dad, lately.
We arrived in Ohio late last night. My Dad checked us into a hotel across the street from his house. This morning we stopped by his house to say hello. I was so bummed to realize that I unfortunately forgot my digital camera at home. :-( He had to work today, so we asked he and Ann what we should see in the area, and Ann suggested Kelley's Island.
On our way to catch the ferry, we stopped at Walmart to pick up some disposable cameras. Kelley's Island is a small, pretty quiet island on Lake Eerie. To get around the island, we rented a golf cart. Our first stop was on the other side of the island to see Glacial Grooves.
Robby and Ben posed for a quick photo near the natural phenomenon.
We found a beach nearby. I think if we all had swim suits we would have stayed there all day. The water was so warm.
So, this is Ohio, huh? Where are the cornfields?
We were starting to get hungry, so we headed over to The Village Pump for a bite.
On the ride over, Ben fell asleep. Must have been the open air ride on the golf cart. It was a really relazing little ride around the island.
At the restaurant, Robby drew some pretty cool dinosaurs while I enjoyed my perch basket. Yummy!
After lunch, we went for another drive in our golf cart. Robby crashed. So, I held him at my side as we took another lap around the island.
We stopped at The Caddy Shack to return out golf cart and grab an ice cream before we headed back to the ferry.
On our way back the kids found this huge anchor. Cool!
My Robby on our way back.
My Dad had mentioned this lighthouse. It is weird to go someplace and see something that someone told you about. The Marblehead Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the Great Lakes.
