Thanksgiving Santa

This Thanksgiving all of our friends and relatives were busy. So, Mary had the idea of heading North to Santa's Village. After a big turkey lunch, we got in the car and headed towards Jefferson, New Hampshire. We spent the night in Lincoln, then left for a full day at Santa's Village Friday morning. This picture has a good story to it. We waited for nearly an hour to go on Santa's Sleight Ride. It was brutally cold. Apparently they were having problems with the ride. I guess it rained the night before, and the extreme cold has caused some ice to build up on the track. So, they kept having to stop and restart it. We were glad when we finally got to the front of the line. We got in our sleigh and headed off. Until about 2/3 of the way through the ride, our sleigh stopped. We were stuck about 50 yards above the ground on this sleigh/monorail. A Santa's Village sleigh mechanic started shouting to us from the ground to turn the key this way and that way, and press/pull a big red button that was on the side of the sleigh. Meanwhile there were other sleds lined up behind us, all stuck in queue. The mechanic guy then went to get a laddder. Then a little girl in the sleigh behind us got scared and started to cry. Haha It was pretty crazy. The mechanic climbed the latter and was able to get us started again, but had to ride the rest of the way with us, his butt hanging out the front of our sleigh. So, the first picture we took on Santa's Sleigh Ride had the mechanic in it too. I wanted so badly to get that picture and post it on the web, but the guy at the booth wanted to charge us $8 for the picture. So, I settled for this one which was taken on our second time around. (The mechanic let us go to the front of the line for the second time.) Last year we went to Santa's Village too. Somehow we never made it to Santa's house that time. I think the line was too long. Most of the people left early tonight though because it was so cold. So, we got in to see the big guy.
