May Flies and Crayfish

Our first couple days in Michigan the weather has been really nice. When we left for Michigan we were worried about whether or not the kids would be able to go swimming. But yesterday we all went into the water for a while. It was very nice. We are staying in the same cabin as last year. Except there are two new mattresses which are much better and we have cable TV which is cool for Grampa, because he can watch his Detroit Tigers. Of course it is sor tof cool for me too, because cable also means Internet. I set up a router so all the cabins could get wireless - sweet! It was a long drive out here, but it is really cool for the kids to have their bikes. Ben was digging it. Robby and Ben road their bikes down to the big pier to watch Steve fish. I think next year we will all get fishing rods. My dock buddies. This year the May Flies were a little bit late and are still out in force in July. We were out last night looking for crayfish which seem not to be as plentiful as last year. Anyway, while we were out there this light was on. The May Flies are attracted to the light, so they will swarm all around the light. Since the May Flies only live 48 hours.. this morning when we woke, we went out to the dock and found a pile of May Flies heaped up in a circle right underneath the light. they flew to the light and just died in a heap. Crazy! the seagulls were happy though. I am not sure why the May Flies seem to like the Dingies so much. It is really great to see Matts and Charlie again. Ben and Robby were so happy to see them. Grampa bought a Boston Whaler so he would have a boat from now on whenever we come back to Michigan. Trying to pass time after dinner the kids and I decided to take out the paddle boat. Notice how the boat is listing to the left. Geesh what a porker I am. Too much perch I guess. And they paddled away happily ever after.
