Central Station (Central do Brasil)
1998

Dora is a retired school teacher who now tries to make a little extra money on the side by transcribing and mailing letters for people that she refers to as "trash" at Rio de Janeiro's Central Station. One of Dora's customers dictates a letter to her husband, who abandoned her and Josue, her nine year old son just before he was born. After leaving the station the customer is killed when hit by a bus, leaving Josue to fend for himself. Dora recuctantly takes Joshe in, and soon they find themselves on a journey across Brasil in search of Josue's father. The bond that forms between the two, and the journey they make are beautiful. This film is a gem!
