Barracuda
I took it easy yesterday because of my ankle. We mostly stayed in/near the pool except for going out to get a rental car and dinner on Duval.
I decided that today I would not let my ankle stop us from having some fun with the kids. So, I made a few calls this morning and we quickly dashed across town for a ride on a glass bottom boat.
It was hard hobbling around in my big ankle brace, especially on the boat as we bobbed up and down over the waves.
It was a beautiful day out. We all enjoyed being out on the ocean and getting some sun.
Just a whee bit windy, eh Ben?
If I had to guess, I am thinking right now Robby is imagining all of the different forms of life under the sea. Sea Monsters...
Then the cheeze man made him smile. hehe
Life in the keys.. I could get used to this.
When we arrived at the coral reef, the boat came to a stop and our guide began teaching us about the coral reef and the many different types of fish we were seeing through the glass bottom. We mostly saw yellow tail snappers, except for a quick visit by one scary looking barracuda. Did you know when a barracuda attacks a yellow tail snapper, he attacks with such speed and intensity, that he actually often splits the snapper right in half?
Robby was so taken by the barracuda that he wanted to draw barracudas for the whole rest of our boat ride.
Afterwards we went back to the hotel to enjoy the pool. The kids were tossing this plastic baton back and forth just having a blast.
Robby enjoyed having his floaties on his arm, so he could go into the deep end to float/swim.
I think the kids would have been happy just playing in the pool for the entire week - hehe.
A trip to Key West would not be complete without the picture of the southern most point. A big thanks to the drunk/homeless guy from Atlanta who snapped this picture.
This is the car we drove around the island.
For dinner we ate at an authentic Cuban restaurant, rated the best on the island. The food was pretty good, definitely something different. The plantains were yummy for sure. Hey Bob take a look at that hot sauce, look familiar?
