One Month
9 June 2004

Today was much better. Ben slept well, and when he was awake he was easily soothed by Mary's breastfeeding or my pinky. I was actually even able to soothe him to sleep this evening and put him in his bassinet while Mary and I ate dinner. That is sort of a milestone for me. I am feeling more comfortable with the little guy.

It is funny how intimidating a baby can be.
Maybe not so funny.

Today, it reached 98 degrees in Lowell, so we tried to stay in air conditioning. In the morning we went to the Chelmsford Library for a creative dance program. The program was for children two and a half to four years of age. Robby is only two and four months, so he was a little younger than most of the kids there. He liked watching the other kids dance, and even participated some when the teacher passed out some props.

After the library, we headed over to Friendly's for lunch before Mary's noon dental appointment. Then we spent a few hours up at Jordan's Furnitute looking for a big boy bed for Robby. We found just the one. It is a really great bunk bed set that both Robby and Ben will be able to use. We plan to buy it sometime later this month.

Next, we went over to the mall where Robby got to ride the escalator, see the turtles and try on a new pair of sandles. We were having a good time at the mall until Mary went to change Ben's diaper. She noticed that Ben had some swelling on his penis, so she called the pediatrician who told us to soak it three times, then apply some Bacitraycin and just keep it extra clean until Ben's one month appointment on Friday.

Ben is actually one month today.
